Back to School: Alumni return with invaluable advice!

Former students have gone on to succeed in a huge variety of careers!

In our latest news article we report on a fantastic visit from former students who returned to Penryn College to speak to our year 11s. With their summer exams and end of secondary school closing in, the advice they were given couldn't have come at a better time.

A big thank you to Hayley Stanton – Assistant Commissioning Officer at Cornwall Council, Kerra Buchanan – Managing Director of Kerra’s Catering Ltd, Nigel Nicholls – Independent Financial Advisor at FAC Group, Paul Caunter – Director of Ignition Credit PLC and Danny Laity – Chief Petty Officer with The Royal Navy.

This event was organised through Futures First - an organisation that works to build thriving alumni communities to support current students in schools across the UK. If you or someone you know used to go to Penryn College and would like to get involved click here.

The first edition of Edventure, Penryn College Holiday Activities, launched during February half term and was a great success. Over 100 young people aged 3-16 took part in activities including Musical Theatre, Art, Football Golf and Trampolining.

Musical Theatre was a brand new course available and after just a few hours of rehearsal we were treated to a 20 minute display of great acting and singing!

We also took a group to Killiow Football Golf for an enjoyable morning alongside the old favourites of our 3 day Football Festival in partnership with Penryn Football Development Centre.

Our next holiday activities will be running throughout the Easter break, 3
rd – 13th April. Details will be available on the new website:

The latest Art work to go on display at Penryn College are these wonderful cerematic tiles inspired by African masks and art. These were made by some talented year 8s!
Case closed!

Before half term KS3 students were set the task of solving the mystery of the murdered maid in their English classes, in celebration of Charles Dickens’ birthday. And the culprit was...

Miss Havisham, from Great Expectations!

Students worked out it was Miss Havisham because her alibi was that she was shopping with her mother - but she had been orphaned many years ago.
