ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS

Welcome - Join us in extending a warm welcome Aria Yannopoulos into Dandelion preschool, Christian Jurovich into Red Rose kindergarten, and Starla Smeeth into grade 5!

It's Commitment Time - Please be sure to bring in your commitment forms, for each child entering grades 1-12, by February 28th. A deposit is required only for students entering grades 1, 2, 7 and 8. For more information and to download forms, please visit: www.vws.ca/20172018-tuition-commitment/

Spring Market Call for Vendors - It’s coming up to that time of year again for our annual Spring Market! If you would like to be considered as an artisan or vendor this year, please submit the application at this link vws.ca/spring-market-call-vendors. The application deadline is February 15th.

Chinese New Year Photos - Click over to our website to see some wonderful photographs from the Chinese New Year Celebration last Friday. Toonie Treat - Most Friday afternoons, at the 3 pm bell, parent volunteers have been organizing Toonie Treat Fridays to fundraise toward kitchen renovations. Stop by to ask them more about it, and don't forget your $2 for something yummy!

Grade 6 Humane Society Collection - The students in 6th grade have taken up the cause of raising funds for the Humane Society. Look for them after school on Friday February 10.

Valentine's Festivities - On Friday February 10th at 3 pm in the Grade School Hall, grade 11 will be selling all kinds of festive treats, with vegan and gluten free options too. There will be music, decorations, and a 'cake walk' to win a cake! Come by to support grade 11 fundraise for the grade 12 trip, by enjoying some homemade Valentine's Day treats made for you!

Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) Free Ticket Vouchers - On February 19, at 2 pm, VAM will present Symphonie Fantastique and on May 7, at 2 pm they will present A John Williams Tribute both at the Orpheum Theatre. Vouchers must be presented at the theatre on the day of the concert in exchange for a ticket to the show. Arrive early to ensure your seat. Seating begins at 1:15 pm and the box office opens at 1 pm. See Ronaye in Reception for vouchers.

Community Marketplace - Have you been looking for our Community Marketplace? At the begining of the school year, it moved to our website, here: www.vws.ca/community/vws-community-directory Contact Laura if you would like to add a listing.

Lost and Found - Come check for missing items in our lost and found before the bin is emptied at the Good Will during February break.

Lovely things for February at the RDS. Open mornings 8:30-9:45 am as well as Monday and Friday afternoons 2:30-3:30 pm.

GIFT CARD FUNDRAISING

The news many have been waiting for – Whole Foods Market gift cards are available for a limited time! Please place your order by Wednesday February 15th for gift card delivery in March and April. If you are new to the gift card program, please complete a gift card order form available at reception or download to print here and return to Ronaye or Sarah by February 15th. If you have an existing gift card order, please email vwsgiftcard@vws.ca if you would like to add to or change your order to take advantage of the Whole Foods cards. Please also consider increasing your gift card orders for the last few months of school to allow you cards for the summer break and give one last push to our grocery fundraising drive. Thanks as always for your support of the school.

VWS LIBRARY

Our little library is open from 12:15 to 3:15 pm, Tuesday through Friday. Not only do we stock books for children of all ages, but moms and dads can find Waldorf and parenting resources to take out for themselves. Stop in to meet our lovely librarian, Christiane; she's happy to help you find what you need.
 

NOTES

This white fluff falling from the sky has created an especially joyous mood at the Grade School today, and feels something akin to the icing on a delicious cake. This has been yet another fabulous week at the Vancouver Waldorf School. Thanks for how you show up.
