Welcome to the new SOE email newsletter! I am excited to share with you news and updates from our students, faculty, and staff and connect you back to the school.
In my first months as dean, I have witnessed the incredible research and innovation within the SOE, and have learned of many facets of experiential education our students are immersed in. We are an engaged community, not only in our classrooms, but in our city, state, and nation, and we invite you to be a part of that today!
A team led by professors in the Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations, has been awarded a $1.8 million principal preparation grant from the NC Alliance for School Leadership Development.
The grant will fund the two-year Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) program, which involves 11 rural districts in North Carolina that struggle to find and keep effective principals for high-needs schools. Read more
Admittance to the UNCG School of Education opens countless doors for students to gain valuable applied, real-world learning experience in their chosen field. Shameeka Wilson, a junior Deaf Education and Special Education double major from Williamston, N.C., has taken advantage of the opportunities presented to her, securing internships, student teaching positions, and a study abroad program.
