ROBERTA LANGE
for
DNC SECRETARY

Colleagues,

We were successful in Nevada this cycle as we elected the first Latina to the U.S. Senate, flipped two Congressional seats, our State Senate and Assembly.  We won Nevada for Hillary.  We were successful because we paid attention to important campaign fundamentals and relationships.  We organized at the grassroots. We communicated across interest groups, affiliations and generations.  We reached out to every potential voter regardless of where they lived.  We also enjoyed a sustained and substantial investment from Senator Reid, independent groups, labor and the DNC.

The success we had in Nevada can and should happen in other states and is an important starting point for discussion as we work to reenergize the DNC. Every contest, for each Democrat, is important as we build for our future.  Taking and holding statehouses, constitutional offices, governorships, city councils, county commissions, and all the other myriad of positions that direct policy and resources is essential.

Over the last six years, I've shared powerful conversations with many of you about how we can make our state parties stronger and more effective.  Now we must continue that conversation in earnest.  We will have to work for a DNC that reaches out beyond the blue and battleground states and deep into the lives of all our citizens. We will need to reach out to urban and rural America.  Democrats have the best record, the best story, and the strongest commitment to values of a diverse and dynamic constituency.   It’s time to tell that story in new ways and with new energy.

That’s why I am running for Secretary of the Democratic National Committee and why I am asking for your vote.

I am a leader that came out of the grassroots and I never forget it.  My grandfather, Rafael Pedroza who immigrated to the US from Mexico during the Mexican American War, taught me to be strong and to stand for what I believe in at an early age. Growing up in rural Montana I saw the challenges of rural areas.  As a teacher and union leader in Washington State, I was able to participate in building organizations and engage our members in political action. After serving in a variety of roles in state and federal races, I was elected six years ago to State Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party. We’ve had a few bumps along the way but we’ve never stopped building and growing.  We’ve never stopped having honest dialogue about who we are, what we are about, and where we need to go.

We must now have that same kind of dialogue at the national level.  Let's reach into our collective knowledge and expertise and dig deep to build our future.  Now is the time to do real work in the face of adversity and challenge.  Let’s do that work together.

I want to earn your endorsement and look forward to future conversations.  I can be reached at Roberta4DNCsecretary@gmail.com or 702.737.8683.
